"JUST WON'T TOUCH ME NOW" - Bernie Townsend
This song was inspired by the experience of a close friend on his return from the Vietnam War in the early 1970's. The video for this song started a groundswell of support among veterans as reflected by viewings on You Tube and the overwhelming response to posts on the Vietnam Veterans of America Facebook Page. The song was released to US radio and the wider American audience in April 2015 and peaked in late June at #34 on the Adult Contemporary Hot 100 US Radio Chart and #17 on the AC Top 40 Chart plus #7 on the US Western Region Radio Chart. In the light of the background to the song and the source of its inspiration, Bernie Townsend donated his share of royalties to the Vietnam Veterans of America in perpetuity. In 2016 Bernie was nominated in the 'Adult Contemporary Breakthrough Artist of the Year' category at the 'New Music Weekly' US Radio Awards in Los Angeles in the light of the success of "Just Won't Touch Me Now" on three separate Adult Contemporary US Radio Charts.
